Pentecost 8, August 4

The author of Ecclesiastes believes that hard work and wisdom should be fairly rewarded, but notes that reality often turns out differently.
Colossians tells us “…get rid of all such things, anger, wrath, malice, slander and abusive language fro your mother. Do not lie to one another seeing that you have …clothed yourselves with the new self… in that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, …slave and free,; but Chris in all and in all!”
In the Gospel of Luke we read about the man who had an abundance of possessions and wanted to tear down his barns and build larger ones, only to discover his life “is being demanded of you.”
