We were delighted to see a familiar name and a special connection to Trinity in this month’s Virginia Synod, ELCA The Virginia Lutheran September news!
The Synod recently highlighted “Shine Jesus,” a summer youth retreat hosted by the Faith Lutheran Church Youth Group at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp & Retreat Center on August 7–8. Fifteen youth and twelve adults gathered for a weekend of faith, fellowship, worship, and fun—exploring how Jesus shines in our lives and how we are called to share that light with others, including our very own Wayne Wright, along with Pastor Closter.
The retreat included Bible study and worship alongside hiking, fishing, archery, crafts, games, good food, and plenty of time for friendship and fellowship. Bishop Milton joined the group and led worship during the weekend.
There’s also a special Trinity connection: Warren Dooley, who shared the story with the Virginia Synod, is a young man whom Pastor Closter baptized and confirmed during his ministry at Faith Lutheran in Fort Valley. It is wonderful to see where those relationships continue to grow and how faith continues to shine through the next generation!
